Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu inaugurated a long-awaited new section of a highway in Samaria on Tuesday. The long-awaited road first became something that residends of Samaria could start looking for after a Cabinet meeting this past September in which Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu added NIS 600 million ($168 million) to the government’s budget allocation to include the paving of bypass roads in Judea and Samaria, according to Arutz Sheva. Residents of Judea and Samaria have been the victims of increased rock-throwing incidents by Arab terrorists in recent months. The bypass roads will hopefully decrease the number of incidents that these brave Jewish pioneers have had to deal with when traveling to and from their homes in Judea and Samaria. Among those present at the inauguration was Samaria Regional Council Head Yossi Dagan.
In a statement posted to Facebook, Dagan said, “Congratulations to Samaria! At the right time, we inaugurated the Nabi Elias bypass road (Highway 55) today, in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Transportation, the Deputy Minister of Defense and the heads of Samarian communities. These tidings are a real encouragement for strengthening the communities [of Judea and Samaria] and G-d willing, the beginning of a new era of building momentum – for new roads that will change the map of Judea and Samaria – moving towards a million residents in Judea and Samaria“.
Dagan went on to the thank a number of politicians that contributed to the building of the new road. “I would like to thank Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Transportation Yisrael Katz and Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben Dahan for their leadership and vision. Thank you also to my friend Yigal Lahav, head of the Karnei Shomron Council, who worked with us to approve and build the road.”
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to continue the development of infrastructures in the Judea and Samaria. “This bypass is part of an array that we’re building across Judea and Samaria. We’re connecting the country from north to south and east to west with a network of roads, trains, and tunnels – not terror tunnels, but life tunnels, the Prime Minister said.”
