Kochav Hashachar, a 20-minute drive Northeast of Jerusalem, has a stunning view of the the mountain ranges stretching from Samaria to Jordan, in addition to the Judean Desert and Dead Sea. The name Kochav Hashachar means “the morning star.” The name is appropriate as the city is located on a hilltop with great sunrise views. The community is home to over 300 families and is comprised of Kochav Hashachar, itself, and the Maaleh Shlomo and Mitspe Kramim neighborhoods.
All kinds of people, with diverse backgrounds, have come to live in Kochav Hashachar. The yishuv has Ashkenazim and Sepharadim; Israel-born residents and immigrants (from America, the UK, Australia, and South Africa). There is a brand new synagogue, a yeshiva (a Jewish post-high school seminary for boys), weekly Torah classes, colorful playgrounds, and a rich communal feeling. The beautiful diversity of the Kochav Hashachar community is testament to the miraculous “in-gathering of the exiles” today.
Kochav Hashachar is within the jurisdiction of the Mateh Binyamin Regional Council. The population numbers about 2,700 people and the city is located in the portion of Israel that was designated for the tribe of Benjamin.
We hope you all get excited, as a product from Kochav Hashachar has been included in the upcoming May package, scheduled to ship next week!
