This May, our Lev Haolam subscribers received more than a box of products from Israel.
They received a journey.
A journey through the life of King David – through the deserts he crossed, the fields where he once tended sheep, the cities connected to his story, and the people across Israel who continue building lives filled with faith, resilience, and purpose today.
Every Lev Haolam box tells a story.
But the May box was especially personal.
Because David’s journey was never only about becoming a king.

The Journey of David
Before there was Jerusalem.

There was a shepherd boy standing alone beneath an open sky.
During long hours in the fields, surrounded by silence and wilderness, David composed the words that would later become the Psalms – songs of prayer, hope, and trust that still comfort millions around the world today.
David’s life carried both beauty and hardship. He faced rejection, wandered through deserts and caves, fled enemies, and endured years of uncertainty before ever reaching the throne. Yet even in difficult moments, he remained connected to faith and purpose.
That spirit became the inspiration behind the May Lev Haolam box.
This month’s package was carefully built around seven producers and seven places across Israel – each connected in some way to David’s story, journey, or legacy.

The People and Places Behind the May Box
Bethlehem of Galilee – Spice Way Farm
One of the first stops on this journey is Bethlehem of Galilee, named after Bethlehem of Judah – the birthplace of King David.
Here, Spice Way Farm continues Israel’s deep agricultural traditions through handcrafted spice blends and herbs grown with care and expertise. The Majadra spice mix included in the May box transforms a humble rice dish into a rich and comforting meal rooted in Middle Eastern tradition.
Like so much of Israeli culture, it is meant to bring people together around the table.
Cinamon – Magen David Necklace
The May box also included a special Magen David necklace created by Gabriel Barashi of Cinamon, a family jewelry business founded in 1985.
Designed especially for the Lev Haolam family, the necklace draws inspiration from the ancient symbol known as Magen David – “David’s shield” – long associated with strength, protection, and Jewish identity.
In a box centered around the journey of King David, it became more than jewelry.
It became a symbol subscribers could carry with them.
It became a symbol subscribers could wear – a reminder of faith, identity, and the living story of Israel.
Dalton – Beit Hashaked
From Israel’s Upper Galilee came the naturally sweet Hazelnut Chocolate Bars from Beit Hashaked. Founded by Tamir Peled, the company was created with a vision of producing healthy snacks using the abundance of fruits and nuts grown throughout Israel.
Made with dates, hazelnuts, and cacao, these bars reflect something simple but meaningful: the ability to create nourishment and sweetness directly from the land itself.
Zichron Yaakov – Aunt Berta
The May box also included Aunt Berta’s pomegranate teriyaki sauce – a product deeply connected to family tradition and Israeli hospitality.
Founded decades ago by a woman known lovingly as “Aunt Berta,” the company grew from old family recipes brought to Israel and rebuilt into a thriving business in the Galilee.
Their sauces carry the warmth of home cooking and generations of care.
Jerusalem – Peanuts of Machane Yehuda
No journey through Israel would feel complete without Jerusalem.
Inside the famous Machane Yehuda market, Eli Mizrahi built “Peanuts,” a business inspired by the vibrant flavors and traditions of the city.
The crunchy coated peanuts included in this month’s package are a beloved Israeli snack – something often shared at gatherings, celebrations, and family tables.
Small flavors that carry the feeling of everyday life in Israel.
Haifa – Madgan
In Haifa, the Madgan team creates specialty snacks filled with the aromas and flavors of Israel’s north. Their sugar-coated pecans included in the May box may seem simple at first glance, but behind them stands careful craftsmanship and years of tradition.
Sometimes the smallest treats become the flavors people remember most.
Mitzpe Ramon – Faran
Far to the south lies Mitzpe Ramon – a desert landscape deeply connected to David’s years of wandering and refuge.
There, Itay Keinan founded Faran, an organic skincare company inspired by the power and purity of the desert itself.
Subscribers received Faran’s natural day cream in the May box, created using high-quality natural ingredients designed to nourish and restore the skin.
But beyond skincare, Faran represents something deeper: life flourishing even in difficult places.
Tzfat – Eyal Cohen and David’s Journal
Perhaps the heart of the May box was “David’s Journal,” written by Israeli author Eyal Cohen.
Living in the mystical city of Tzfat, Eyal dedicated years to studying the life of King David and reimagining biblical figures as real human beings – people with emotions, struggles, fear, and faith.
Created especially for the Lev Haolam family, this companion piece invited subscribers not only to read about David, but to experience his inner journey personally.

The May Lev Haolam box was never meant to be just a collection of products.
